5. Tell us a bit about your childhood and the environment you grew up in.

I grow up in a small town in Spain. Drawing in the school instead of listening to teachers, dreaming about becoming what I’m now.

 6. When & how did you form your own unique style of work ?

Art comes from your message. That “something” you have to say in art is what we call style.

 7. Can you tell us more about your ‘REALITY (SHOW)’ collection? What was the ideation behind it?

Reality Show are paintings consisting in independent shapes (object, people, etc.) painted in a monochromic background. Each object “fall” without any kind of order “into” the painting as if the painting would be a two dimensions chaotic box. A box we fill during our way with people, ideas, fashions… Society.

 8. What message does your art deliver and how do want your viewers to perceive it as?

I want to make clear that we are 99% tradition… that we are not so original as we love to think… that Contemporary art is an academy, based on myths, as all academies always are… That we see is just a small part of reality.

 9. Describe the place where you work from.

My studio is part of my home, next to my family. I Hate to need to travel to get into my job. My studio remembers me that I never had a real Job.

 10.  We noticed that you recreated many famous paintings, one of them being ‘The Princess de Brogile’, what inspired you to do that?

Our landscape became 100% a cultural one. I use those academic paintings as a critic of contemporary art. I show that Art is just an academy. Does not matter if you use old paintings, pop culture imagery, abstract spots or ready-made… you always copy, even when you create something new. I’m very critic with the contemporary art world’s concept of “originality”. It’s fake and too narrow minded.

 11.  Your work has been displayed at many art galleries, how do you feel about having to reach that platform?

My opinion about this is rare among artist: Reality is a not tolerant truth, for good and bad. We enjoy to see artist as idealists and dreamers but I think that vision is poison for an artist as for anyone. It’s a dangerous trend in art, linked to leftism and propaganda. Fortunately Art world still a capitalistic issue, as everything else. That means is based in individual’s freedom with the minimum state coertion. Art galleries means just a group of people offering what they love, you can step into any gallery to talk, ask, learn, enjoy, maybe laugh… and you are not force to use your credit card.

Maegan Stracy - Permutation, combinations & blurring the lines between fashion & art
Jun 14, 2020

Stracy’s materially investigative work with different textiles, and other materials takes a lot of time, and labor. The first step involves sampling, and sketching. After that, starting with a piece consists of working “through a regimented system, a grid or a layout, as most textile structures have some form of pattern or repetition”.

Re-discovering L.A | George Byrne, photographer talks about portraying the everyday urban spaces.
Jun 14, 2020

Born in Sydney, George Byrne, graduated from the University of Sydney: Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Visual Arts (Sydney College of Arts). He had an affinity for photography since a young age; gradually the field became apparent as a natural focus during his studies, and as a possible profession. Moreover, its novel status as a fine arts medium was a source of excitement for him. Moving to Los Angeles—current residence—constituted a defining moment in his professional life; the city’s architecture and its landscape drove the evolution of his work and his passion for it. His subject—everyday urban space—, and vivid style refers to the New Topographics photography, and Modernist painting, respectively.
